Privacy
The short version: what you enter stays in your browser.
What you enter
Every schedule, chart and calendar file is made in your browser. Your home's features, appliance ages, inventory items, values, serial numbers and photos are never sent to Porch Petal or anyone else. Apart from loading the site's own files, the pages make no network requests; the one exception is the page-view count described below.
What is stored on your device
So your lists are still there next time, these are saved in this browser, on the device you are using only:
porchpetal-theme(local storage): your light or dark theme choice.porchpetal-schedule(local storage): the features you picked for the maintenance schedule and your ticks.porchpetal-appliances(local storage): the appliances and years in the age check.porchpetal-filters(local storage): your filter reminders and alert choice.porchpetal-inventory-settings(local storage): the inventory's currency and print setting.porchpetal-inventory(IndexedDB database): your inventory items and any photos you add.
None of it is uploaded or backed up. The Clear, Reset and Delete all buttons on each tool remove their part; this button removes everything at once:
Clearing this site's data in your browser settings does the same. On a shared computer, remember that anyone using this browser can open your inventory.
Cookies, accounts and ads
There are none. There is no sign-up, no advertising and no tracking across other sites.
Page-view counts
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which our host Cloudflare adds to each page, to count page views. It does not use cookies or track you across sites, and it never receives what you type into the tools.
Links to other sites
Pages link to sources such as InterNACHI, ENERGY STAR and the US EPA, to sister sites and to two recommended services, CleanTempMail and WebTraceCheck. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you follow a link.
